A man with a baguette

When I search for subjects to paint I go to places that appeal to me. There I wander around studying the volumes and compositions of the buildings. How the light strikes them, where the shadows are casted, what the colors are like. When I find what I'm looking for I make mental pictures of the scene and what happens in them. I also take actual pictures for reference on the composition and architectural detail. My photographic memory only goes so far. My mental pictures I use for creating this feeling of life. Everyday little things happening in front of our eyes; a sunny day, people on the sidewalk talking, a man with a baguette crossing the street. I want to draw the viewer into my paintings and experience how I see the world in my art.
